What is a WeSpeak lesson?

A lesson is one real conversation with a goal. You get a scene (a café counter, a hotel desk, a team meeting), a role for the tutor, a handful of steps to get through, and target words to use. You reach the goal by talking your way through it — not by answering quiz questions.

How long does a lesson take?

Most lessons are around five steps and take roughly ten minutes. You can leave at any point; a finished lesson is scored, and an unfinished one is simply not counted against you.

Do I have to speak, or can I type?

Either. The tutor speaks its lines out loud with a natural voice, and you can reply by voice or by keyboard in the same lesson. Speaking is where the practice pays off, but typing is always available when you are somewhere you cannot talk.

Which level should I choose?

Every scenario runs at four levels: Starter (A1 – A2), Conversational (A2 – B1), Confident (B1 – B2) and Natural (B2 – C1). The scene and the steps are identical at all four — only the vocabulary gets harder and the hints fade away, disappearing completely at Natural. Start one rung below where you think you are, then climb.

Can I practice a situation that is not in the library?

Does the tutor correct me while I am speaking?

What a lesson is

One conversation with something to get done. You are given a scene, a person to talk to, and the steps that finish it — here, the five that make up a coffee order.

Your tutor holds their role. The barista stays the barista, asks what you want, and waits for you to answer. Steps clear when you say the thing that clears them, not when a timer runs out.

Reaching the goal is worth 40% of the score, the target words 30%, and accuracy the last 30%. One star lands at 50 points, two at 70, three at 88 — but reaching the goal is what passes a lesson. Stars never block you.
